The Blood moon Sept 27th 2015

This was a beautiful event. I loved watching it and realize what a small speck of sand we are in the universe.
Many peoples of many colors and creeds of many fears and faiths.
I thought about the Pope coming to our Nation this week and all the events rising and crashing.
I thought about many things as I watched this beautiful event. maybe it is a haunting event in a way..the colors the faiths that believe different things..the political world..the financial world..the people of the world and all their loves and hates..their birth and deaths.
In it all there was one common thing I felt from this event Hope.

What will the moon say when he speaks

My Dad has had a hard few weeks he is on a blood thinner that is causing his sugar to rise and he has had inner ear infection and so have I.
 I love to sit on the porch and feed the doves I see the moon phases well living in the country. I also spend to much time watching the news with my Dad. sad mostly.
This is made with acrylics and stencil girl stencils.
 My son has his day off tomorrow and he will be up on the computer. I am going to go drink a starbucks mocha coffee on ice and go to bed.of course I have to play bubble witch a few.

It has been a hard six years for me and journals have been my survival for years yet last July my art ceased when my Mother was placed on Hospice. When she passed this past January I have had my hands full still living with my Dad and helping him as I can but healing myself, looking for a new home in a new town..I have MUCH going on..but I began several  wonderful processes that are helping me heal and let me tell you inspire me to make art again and I want to share them with you. I am sure as I pick up my pace again I will be sharing many wonderful teachers and artist with you.

Tutorial on "Beware" a "dark" project using a Smeared Ink image.

I had a passion when the images from smeared ink were released . The collection is Toxic Dancer.
I thought how powerful in a day of lawlessness, such hatred and anger in the air , foods are so poisoned and the list is endless.
I do not think we can travel through our lives on this planet and not be touched by the events at one time or another.

The piece is "Beware"

Let me share with you how I made it.

I used a Dylusion journal. The smaller one, which by the way I love.
I wanted to thicken the pages so I did something unique. I used four pages.

The black under page host two middle pages the sides have been torn down on the middle pages

I used Dina Wikley white gesso as a base coat. after drying I used black acrylics.

I used a metal embellishment that has holes in it as a stencil,and my Mother had this paper paint by

folkart called Papier, this color is metallic green.
after the black acrylic dried on the back pages I mixed black acrylic with Wendy Vecchi paste and used the embellishment as a stencil, when that dried I used my finger and rubbed over the ridges of the stenciled area...the Papier metallic green.I used Diana Wakley's gel medium as a top coat.

The inner pages were torn on the edges and glued down.

I again gesso(ed) the middle pages

I made act sized images using my new smeared Ink stamps. Here is a link to their store.

I began adding the gel medium and and colored the image.
The red moon is called the Blood moon our of a photo in one of my Mothers prophecy magazines.
I used the rest of the black paste to blend all the images and mod Podge when all was dry.

The moon speaking...Moon Journaling with Effy- Wild

 I have another moon piece to share with you. I have moved my learning and personal journal pages here. I have become active again and working for market in July and September so my other blogs are just to busy to share real life and journaling that is thought through and learning processes.

I am loving Effy Wilds moon processes. The moon is powerful and http://effywild.com/ is a wonderful thought provoking person and teacher.

The full moon has either brought me energy and clarity or tiredness and the lack of clarity.
This full moon was almost a perfect ballance. I was not exhusted and heavy feeling and I was not hipper. loved it.

We live out in country right now. part of me likes it the other part of me hates it. but moon shots are sweet.

New Journal Beginnings

Happy September to all of you. I am starting a new journal.I purchased it a few weeks ago and I was so undecided what I wanted to do with this one.Most of my Journals are tutorial journals this year with you tube and Life book 2014. 
Last night we began having thunderstorms and I wanted to look at something and just relax. I found a very old Somerset magazine...Jan/Feb 1999...wow and some hidden treasures inside.
It brought back memories when I was first becoming interested in paper crafting and knew nothing about it I was a ceramist.

This  is my beginning page. I have not decided on the left side yet. I love the older styles they are pure and simple.

I am Thinking Mermaids Journal page Inspired by my friend Miranda

Journal art to me is using beautiful images or digital images or your own drawning, taking your time and exploring.

I began tearing some papers I had collected many many years ago. I needed to cover writing from past notes I had made to myself. as I covered the pages I thought I have a mermaid from a collage sheet I had purchased from www.alphastamps.com this reminds me of...so after a few hours of digging through the many hundreds of papers and images in my stash I found her..I was so happy..off we went the mermaid and I on a wonderful adventure of journal discovery.I decided to keep it simple and went for the alphabet stencil I purchased from a Hard ware store and grabbed my paste. and we began.

I used my brayer over the paste and then used my finger and the alphabet stencil again to give it debt.
I have recently purchased five  new products for my journal fun and I wanted to used them. I needed a soft tone medium so I used my acrylic paint by scioto "warm beige "again I used my brayer
I found a old piece of recollections ..steam punk paper post card. I tore the bottom off and added it to the top of the page and again used the warm beige .
The rose on the top left is from stencil girls stencils from my Frida set which I love this first new product I will tell you about called Inka Gold , the color is steel blue and Inka Gold is made by Viva Decor. It is a powerful color and it just takes a dab with your fingers to spread. I covered the borders of the journal page and the rose.
The second new product I was playing with is Lindys stamp gang starburst,hydrangea blue. I used my Tim Holtz "Burlap" stencil with it and my third new product I played with is by shimmerz paints and it is called razzeldazzelberry and it gives the mulberry color.

I added the letters I am Thinking of Mermaids

but...

I need more this was looking good but soooo empty.

Ised my french script stamp from stamp it up and the star fish ..I stamped on manila folders colored in markers and cut, then I added them to my pages.The sea coral strands is a hard wood rubber stamp from inkadinkado stamps.The star fish from Tim Holtz nautical blueprint cms194..which I experimented with my fourth new product silks acrylic glazes and the red is called spicy tomato.
Then came a need to fill a different color in on the bottom of the page. For this I used a stamp set my friend Carolyn gave me from Hero Arts called Quatros "small real flowers" and my fifth new product Silks acrylics glazes "Key Lime"

POSTCARD

As you can see there is a paper clip where I ran a beautiful small ribbon through the end and attached a postcard. This image is also from Alpha Stamps. again I added the paste and used Tim Holtz stencil "Burlap"  .
The sea horse is from Tim Holtz Nautical blueprint set colored in markers and cut out. The back side is blank.

Tam lovces to use her brayer and my brayer broke :( so used fingers and a large brush but now i am hooked on the brayer and could not get the effect I wanted.

Jane has such a marvelous talent..drawing..coloring everything..but my goal was to learn to proportion the body ..this is not a complete pass but it is not a complete fail...lol

My friends fighting cancer  and illness..arthritis fybromyalgia and more...you  have been on my mind this week ..so strong.So..this is a dedication to them..with love

why do we wait for season to season. always at the end of a season we are like three year olds in the back seat of a car asking the parent if we are there yet?...hahaha
enjoy the night ..the moon is declining but still bright. the air is still crisp and cool here at night but soon...the heat will come...and then when the heat takes it's toll..we will be in that back seat again...

Hi everyone.
I am finishing with a journal book for a challenge with the wonderful group of artist at Delicious Doodles...The challenge is not until May 16 so I cannot show you the cover with their awesome image...however I can show you what the pages on the inside are like.
I have purchased many wonderful images and collage pages through the past years and I love to cut them apart and store them in decorated coffee cans :)
so today I used cereal boxes and cut me some pages...and began to create a wonderful fun scrap book. Remember the cover is not show until May 16 at http://lilyandthelotus.blogspot.com
so knowing I have some time I can at least show you a few pages
